Annual Travel Maps

I keep a visual record of the roads I travel, places I stay, and interesting sights and encounters I may have run across during my travels. I do this so that I will not make the mistake of venturing down a road that I discovered had nothing to offer when I revisit the area sometime in the future. Also, to make sure I do remember to revisit an area where I made a great discovery or regularly found interesting subjects to photograph.  It occurred to me that others may finds bits of this useful so I have elected to post an annual map of my travel routes and notes.

Some of these notes may not make a lot of sense or have any meaning to some folks, but, as I said, I make these notes primarily for my own future reference. Campsite notes probably would be useful to most folks and roads I encountered while driving my Toad that I would never want to get caught on driving my motorhome also might prove useful to others driving big rigs.

Clicking on the map will take you to the full-size map where you will be able to scale it up or down to see details of the routes traveled as well as the travel notes.

The dark blue routes are roads travelled by the motorhome and the red routes are roads travelled in my toad, my little red Prius.

The tent symbols are camping notes and the camera symbol indicates areas where I either did, or did not, find something of interest to shoot.

  1. I saw your post on Wheelin’ It’s section about maps. I’m just starting to explore yours. I don’t see where you add in the info about each site. I see your simplified method of color coding, the tent, camera, etc. But like Nina, I do want to add the campground info, links to blogs, etc. I don’t want to create another account as Ive already tried so many others after the google fail on it’s latest upgrade!
    Thanks!

    1. When you actually place a marker on the map ( by clicking on the map after you have selected the type of marker you want ) , a box automatically pops up where you can give the marker a title and in the description box, you can type in anything you like such as your rating of the site, etc.

If you want to add a link to your text for a marker, simply type the following in the description box and save:

      http://www.(insert your link here)

      For example, I use

To view the blog entry for this marker, click on the link below.

this to get them to my home page for my blog
